Reliable, Good Spec & Very High Quality.
Kinetico aren’t just UK renowned – they’re also popular in Europe and the USA. They have been around the longest and therefore have the best and a long-standing reputation when it comes to water softening. They claim to actually have invented the non-electric softener.
Kinetico models are said to be the best of the best and the highest quality. In fact, when searching online, some customers report the former 2020c to last up to 20years.
The compact has a good specification, which is only slightly less in terms of efficiency and flow rate when compared to Harvey water softener models. However, Kinetico are so sure of their quality, they offer a 10 year parts and 2 year labour warranty (Vs 3 years for the Harvey Arc).
With this product, you might pay more money initially, but have reassured quality in a long lasting machine – which may save you money in the long run.

The Premier Compact can be found online for £1695, which without installation is a higher price than other products on the market. In terms of efficiency, the flow rate is slightly less than Harvey models (51L/min vs 56L/min) and Harvey claim on comparison sheets that the Premier Compact has a slightly lower capacity and water hardness tolerance – but only slightly.

The Pros
- Its small size & dimensions. A winner for the average family home with limited space.
- Good flow rate and efficiency. Means lower running costs on the whole and the HF system is great for high flow and combi boilers.
- Comes in HE or HF versions. If you have a gravity fed system the HE system is perfect for you, for combi boilers the HF is the best option.
- Non-electric & twin tank. It is automatic and easier to install – you won’t need plugs or sockets.
- 10 year parts warranty & 2 years labour. This will save you costs in the long run and also provides reassurance and security.
- High quality brand. Kinetico are one of the best quality brands with good customer service.
- Very Quiet. Meaning you won’t hear a peep when it is regenerating.
The Cons
- Can’t easily see salt usage. The outer casing means you can’t see how much salt you have used without removing the lid.
- Higher price. The price of a Kinetico system is higher than Harvey – not ideal if you’re on a tight budget.
- Not ideal for homes with 4 bathrooms. Large homes with 4+ bathrooms require a large water softener such as The Premier Plus.
